UGODOG Indoor Dog Potty

Customer Reviews:
Our little Chihuahua pups were 8 weeks old when we brought them both home. We set up the UGODOG in their pen with them. Initially, they messed on the floor. I wiped it up with a paper towel and then rubbed the paper towel on the UGODOG grates. I cleaned the floor and then brought them over to the UGODOG so they could smell their pee. It worked! After that, they consistently peed and pooped on the UGODOG. We use puppy pads (2) under the grates and clean the unit and change out the pee pads twice a day.

If the dogs have runny stool, it will go through the grates and makes clean up a bit more challenging, but it's well worth it.

It's a fantastic product, is easy for the pups to figure out and makes it less stressful to leave the pups alone during the day while we're at work. The pups can stay in their play pen all day now, and don't have to be kept in a crate. Love it!

We have an extra UGODOG that we keep out in the family area for when we let the pups out of their pen when we're having family time. I can't recommend this product enough!

I bought this for my chowchow/lab mix puppy (2 months of age).

For some background, I trained my puppy not to go to the bathroom indoors for the first week of owning her. She picked it up very quickly as she was raised by the foster family to only goto the bathroom on grass. I work full time, but I took 2 weeks off for my new puppy to properly train her. I started with crate training for the first week, which doubled as housebreaking. I trained her to use a bell on the door to indicate when she had to goto the bathroom, and began to give her more free roam of the tile area of my house. I was very pleased that she was so willing to only go to the bathroom outside, but realized that sometimes I may not be able to make it home in time during lunch, and wanted to train her to use the UGODOG during the day. After she was relatively housebroken, during the day I decided to let her use my spare bathroom as her home, and put her crate in one end, food in one corner and the UGODOG in another corner away from her food/sleeping area.

I initially had trouble getting her to use it. I bought puppy treatment pads to try and speed up the process, and I read that the pads have a scent that attract puppies to urinate on them. All that ended up happening was my puppy treated the UGODOG like an enemy, and would growl and pounce away from it. I then took the pads out and tried using nothing but the grate. She initially would not go on it as she felt that she was doing something she was not supposed to (going indoors), but I made her hold it to the point where she couldn't, and she eventually went on the UGODOG. I treated and praised her to reinforce the behavior. I also tried teaching her to go potty on it, but she was not able to aim her poop on the UGODOG. As she only went potty twice a day (once in the morning and once in the evening), I figured I would reinforce her inclination NOT to go potty indoors, and kept that for our morning and evening walks.

The only problem with making her go pee on the UGODOG was that she was now comfortable going indoors, and I ended up having a few accidents. I then made more of a concerted effort to watch her closely while she was in her playpen. I basically kept her in her playpent for longer periods of time, and when she would ring her bell, I would place her on the UGODOG, and treated/praised her everytime she went on it. Gradually, as I went back to work, I noticed that she was using the UGODOG (which I lined with newspaper for ease of cleaning). Once she was accustomed to it, it became a good 2nd option to goto the bathroom.

As far as cleaning the UGODOG, I decided to hew newspaper as the lining, since it soaks up most of the urine and I avoid having to dump the urine into the toilet (I didn't want to bother keeping it steady since the UGODOG is relatively shallow. The time that my puppy went #2 on the UGODOG, it was actually easier to clean than other interviewers indicated. I just ran some running water onto it, and used sanitzation wipes, and the poop came right out.

My puppy tries to chew on the UGODOG and its been relatively stable. I have taught her to not chew on it, but regardless, this thing could likely handle a decent amount of gnawing from a puppy (at least enough time for you to teach them not to chew on it).
