They are the real thing! This review is for the original fit 501s with button fly, not the shrink to fit ones.
I was a bit concerned because some reviews mentioned that the fabric/quality is different. But after unsuccesfully running around to several stores trying to find the correct size and color I figured I had nothing to loose.
I had ordered 4 pairs (2 black, 2 dark stonewash) for my husband. He can't tell the difference from the department store bought ones. Once it's time to get new jeans we will definitely order them through Amazon again.

I live in a climate where we get snow/icy conditions a few weeks a year, but mostly deal with rain. I bought the boots thinking they'd be perfect for walking dogs in slushy, icy mud and they are. The grip is good, they are comfortable and easy to clean. This year winter is much colder than usual(this morning was -10C/14F), so I can also confirm they do well in snow and ice. At freezing the boots keep my feet warm but not overly hot with a medium-weight pair of socks.

I have medium-wide (B width) flat feet, so need a roomy fit. These are fine. The heel slips slightly, but not more than other slip-on boots/shoes so it does not bother me. If you have a slightly wide foot (C width) you will probably also be fine because of the extra room for socks. You will just need to wear lighter weight socks. My calves are on the large side of average and these are roomy enough for my socks and thermals, but still narrow enough that my jeans can fit comfortably over the boots as well.

The style and the quality are very good. The fur and uppers are staying clean and nice looking much longer than I expected considering the mud we trudge through. I like the look of the boots as much as I like wearing them.

My husband and I decided to buy this coffee maker for two reasons. One, we wanted to break our Starbucks habit/addiction and two, because we both have really different tastes in coffee. A traditional coffee maker just wasn't cutting it for us because we couldn't both drink out of the same pot of coffee and ended up wasting a lot of coffee. So this allows us to each brew our favorite coffee without a lot of waste. The coffee maker is very quick to warm up and it's not any louder than our old coffee pot. You can set the brew strength to suit your taste which is really helpful and it even has an iced coffee setting. The large water reservoir is a really nice feature because we don't have to constantly refill the pot, unless of course we are drinking a lot of coffee or tea!

Now, I know the coffee maker is relatively expensive initially so the return on investment will take a little bit of time. With all the myriad of types and flavors of coffee and tea available, we have truly cut down on our Starbucks addiction and have both tailored our K-Cup purchases to suit our individual tastes. My husband makes two to three of his own Vanilla Latte style iced coffees everyday. I've branched out into trying all kinds of different teas in addition to making my own coffee. It does help that several cream companies have come out with some truly delicious flavored creamers to compliment the wide variety of coffee flavors available.

While we can get a few flavors of the K-cups at our local grocery store, Amazon by far has the best selection and best prices. This particular model of coffee maker came with an assortment of coffees so we could try a variety. When you are first starting out with this coffee maker, I would definitely recommend finding an assortment pack so you can decide what your favorites are without having a whole bunch of extra K-Cups left over of things you don't like. Another nice feature that is available for purchase separately is a filter assembly for use with your own coffee. This comes in handy if you have a special coffee flavor that isn't prepackaged by any of the K-Cup makers. Just be sure to use care when you grind your own beans and ensure you read the instructions so you don't use too fine or too course of a grind.

We are extremely please with the quality of this coffee maker and the wide variety of quality coffees and teas available for it. If you have the cash and you are a dedictated coffee drinker, you can't go wrong with this purchase!

All I can say is this by far is the best coffee maker I have ever owned. Makes great coffee and its always hot, takes less than 30 seconds once its warmed up. The automatic settings to shut the unit off after an hour of idle time ( or more ) is a great feature. K-cups are convenient, and not too expensive if you sign up for the auto ship with Amazon. Watch for sales and pick this unit up if your a serious coffee drinker.

I love macro photography but unfortunately can't afford to spend several hundred dollars on an actual macro lens. One day, but not for a while. I decided to give these a try, figuring that if they don't work, then I'm only out $12, which wouldn't be a huge deal.

However, they work very well. I haven't experimented fully with them yet, but I did just spend about an hour taking photos with the +10 and +4 stacked together. Tomorrow I intend to try out every combination I can. Yes, they do have a very shallow DOF, but for the sort of macro photography I like, that's not only not a problem but ideal.

This is definitely a product I would recommend for someone who wants to give macro photography a try but is hesitant to spend the money an actual macro lens costs.

I bought these macro diopters after looking thorough various websites that showed examples at what could be done with something as simple as a pack of filters. The results that I came up with were incredible.

I was thinking of just going out and buying a ~300$ dedicated macro lens at first ... but then I quickly changed my mind when I discovered these.
I, like many other photographers out there, am new to the DSLR thing. I recently bought a Canon Rebel XS (1000D) to really get into photography.
Macro photography just so happens to be one of my favorite styles. But, I'm not made of money. So these were a perfect buy for someone who is just starting to get a hold of different styles of shooting. (Macro, ... etc)

The build quality is very good for the filters themselves. The metal rimmed glass feels secure and safe at the top of my 18-55mm kit lens. The filters simply screw on to the front of my lens and are easily stackable.
The build quality for the pouch on the other hand, is just some sort of synthetic thread. I just got these filters in the mail today and the pouch is already starting to tear at it's seams.

This really doesn't matter to me. I just care about the filters lol. And for the price, about 11$ for me here in the US, how could I go wrong?
The filters came relatively fast with the free shipping. They were in a small cardboard box and were heavier than expected.
No ACTUAL instructions were included with the filters, but there are some guiding sentences on the box they came in.

The bottom line is that if you are new to photography and like shooting macro or close-up ... BUT don't have the large budget for investing in a dedicated macro, these diopters are perfect for you. If used correctly, you can achieve a very impressive picture quality.

I wasn't disappointed when I bought these. I sure that you won't be either. :D

I've had my printer for about a week and it has worked great. It was easy to set up; which I was worried about because I always seem to have problems setting up wireless equipment. So far, it prints great quality pictures and text, quickly, and fairly quiet. The printer is nice looking and doesn't take up a lot of desk space.
I was concerned after reading some of the "ONE" star reviews. But, as someone else suggested, I have a feeling they may work for Epson's competitors. If I have any problems with my printer, I will edit my review later.

I bought this unit about 2 years ago and it has worked great. Some people have issues with using the jump start but mostly this is due to not following the instructions in the manual. To jump start the unit charges a capacitor. When you attach it to you battery you have about 30 sec to attempt a turn-over. Then you have to wait for the capacitor to charge before attempting another turn-over. I have used this unit to jump start the car and when my battery went completely dead I was able to plug it into the lighter so it could back feed power to the system to keep the car running while I drove to a repair shop. I had power go out while moving into our new home four years ago and used my father's unit to power two lamps and a radio for the painters. Which is what lead me to buy one. I have also used it camping. Recently I did break off the compressor hose nozzle, bummer so I will be purchasing another unit.

How to Train Your Dragon is the latest from the stable of Dreamworks, but apart from the animation style, you'd never know it.

How to Train Your Dragon is the story of Hiccup, a Viking who feels out of place since he's not a fan of killing the dragons the Viking's world so revolves around in. But, when Hiccup captures the rare Night Fury Dragon and inadvertently injures it, the two become fast friends and attempt to bridge the gap of understanding between the Dragons & the Vikings. It may not sound like much, but things are deeper than they may seem here, and they are 3 reasons you need to go out and watch this movie right now.

1: Casting: Having seen Jay Baruchel as a geeky character in the film Fanboys, this film only solidifies for me the fact that Baruchel makes cliched characters feel real & brings traits out they wouldn't have otherwise, and this fact is very evident here. The same is true for the rest of the cast. In Shrek 2, Larry King was wasted in a long-running and painful transvestite joke. Here, Craig Ferguson is perfect in the role not only because he's Scottish, but he brings the appropriate mix of eccentric leadership needed for the right-hand man of Gerard Butler's character, who is also well cast. The same goes for the rest of the cast with the possible exception of Jonah Hill, who always feels out of place in almost every movie he's in.

2: Visual Effects & 3D: Now this may because the Viking environment hasn't been portrayed much on screen before, but the film is stunningly beautiful, and that's only reinforced by the 3D which is used better than Avatar in some cases, especially in the case of the flying sequences.

3: The Emotion/Uniqueness of the Film in Animation Today: The story gives way to many emotional moments in the film, all of which are played perfectly. And, not to give too much away, but at the end of the film something happens the to main character that was not only shocking to me, since I'd never seen something of its magnitude done in animation period, but to me it was also one of the most tear-jerking moments, especially in relation to what it does to the relationships & similarities between Hiccup & his dragon in the movie.

Overall, how do you train your dragon? With charm, love, understanding, amazing visuals & stunning 3-D flying sequences. This film ranks up there with Pixar's best, and if I had any criticism towards the movie, it would be the fact that it's made by Dreamworks, and with their quality lately, you don't have high expectation entering this film. Nevertheless, How to Train Your Dragon gets a fire-breathing 5 out of 5.

I went with a total of 3 moms and 9 kids to see this movie in the theater last month. Every single one of the 12 of us loved this film, it's cute, heartwarming and a whole lot of fun. From the story of a father trying to know his son (and his son trying to know him) to the boy and beast learning mutual trust, it's full of feel good moments for the adults. From the silly antics to the cheesy jokes, it was full of entertainment for the kiddos.

This is well worth a watch and a great movie to watch with your kids - you won't be bored and the kids will think you're the super cool parent that you are.

Me? I want my own dragon, darn it!

The first Shrek and Kung Fu Panda were both very close to Pixar level in terms of storytelling, but How to Train Your Dragon is the best by far from Dreamworks. The animation is very high in detail, especially in IMAX 3-D, and the characters are not only likeable, but memorable. The main dragon, Toothless, is one of the greatest animated characters in a long time, and like Wall-E, he doesn't even talk. All of the other species of dragons also have unique looks and personalities. The flying sequences here really show the power of 3-D as a tool to put the viewer in the movie, not just a gimmick. I would say it's second only to Avatar when viewed through those funny looking glasses.

This film is more serious in tone than laugh out loud funny, much like the latest from Pixar (UP, Wall-E, etc.), but it does have quite a few laughs that come naturally, not forced. I'm so glad they stayed away from pop culture references. Both kids and parents will love How to Train Your Dragon equally and probably for much different reasons. The only thing that I didn't care for were the first 10 minutes or so. Not that they are bad in any way, but it felt a little rushed. Once the film settles and Hiccup (the boy viking) meets the dragon, everything begins to click. The only other negative is that every kid is going to want a pet dragon for their birthday. Good luck with that!

Now in his fourth year at school, Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) becomes unwittingly involved in the infamous "Tri-Wizard Tournament," wherein champions from Hogwarts and two visiting wizard schools face frightening challenges in the hope of winning eternal glory. With help from his buddies Ron and Hermione, Harry battles dragons, survives underwater, and faces a terrifying maze. Equally scary for him: He must choose a date for the Yule Ball. He has his eyes on the lovely Cho Chang but is too shy to ask her. Lord Voldemort and his Deatheaters play a prominent part in this installment as Harry faces a life and death duel.

The movie is very well written and the acting is good, too. The three kids are now playing 14-year olds and are showing a greater range of emotions. There is much humor when it comes to dealing with the opposite sex, a talent the usually capable Harry seems to lack. Watching the three at the Yule Ball is sweet and awful, as these things tend to be at that age.

The soundtrack and special effects are wonderful as usual and the suspenseful story is acceptable and enjoyable for children over eight as well as older audiences. If you're a Potter fan, you're sure to enjoy "Goblet of Fire." This is the best of the series so far and definitely lives up to all expectations.

This is an anticipatory place holder. I expect to purchase the Blu-ray on its day of issue, and will complete this review with information about the quality of the transfer and "extras". I'm hoping that the occasionally sloppy special effects will have been redone and made undetectable.

"Back to the Future" is one of the most-entertaining and satisfying movies ever made; few "Golden Age" movies are of such quality. (The Errol Flynn "Robin Hood" comes to mind.) It's therefore remarkable that Zemeckis and Gale had the guts to make part II such a dark and disturbing film. Most people don't like it -- and don't even "get" it -- so I'd like to briefly discuss what is arguably the best film of the series.

An essential element of drama is /choice/ -- a character has to make a decision that will affect him and/or others. In part II, Marty decides to use his time travelling to get rich. The consequences of this go beyond personal disaster -- his community and family are destroyed, and other people have their lives ruined. This plays out as a perverse inversion of "It's a Wonderful Life", as Marty sees what his selfish choice has lead to.

The plotting partly follows "The Hero's Journey" -- the monomyth that appears, in various forms, in many cultures. Marty has to go through figurative Hell to set things right and redeem himself, coming back a better person. The next time you watch part II, think of it as the dark middle act of a three-act play -- which it is.

I Love Love LOVE this eyeshadow palette!...this is my very first palette so I can not compare with other high end brands, but I can say that the colors are very pigmented, they last, and they get the job done! I was in search of a palette that I could afford and that would satisfy my want for a 120 palette..all the other ones I saw were $30+ because of shipping and all, but ordering off of amazon gave me free shipping which is always a plus! In my opinion this palette is for beginners, advanced, or just anyone who wants to change up their look a bit. I would totally recommend this product! Plus buying from the seller 'Bundle Monster' was fabulous, they shipped way before I expected and it was from Hawaii! It came wrapped in a whole bunch of bubble wrap with a "handle with care" package. Nothing was broken. I am so happy! so you should Buy it too!

Self-Discharge: Why Conventional Rechargeables Don't Cut It

Conventional rechargeable batteries have numerous advantages that make them great to use for your portable electronics. But they also come with certain disadvantages. The charging takes quite long and rapid chargers are expensive. All these negative attributes have one root-cause: self discharge. Self-discharge means that a charged battery slowly discharges itself without any equipment consuming any current. This is the reason for rechargeable batteries being sold in a discharged state. And this is the reason that keeping charged batteries for some time did not make any sense. When you needed them, the energy was gone. Sanyo eneloop batteries have an extremely low rate of self-discharge, which means they hold their stored energy for a very long time--charge your batteries once and put them in your kitchen drawer, and over a year from now you'll still be able to use them right away, without needing to charge them again.

Under the Hood: How eneloop charger Controls Self-Discharge

How can the self-discharge in the eneloop be so reduced? The self-discharge of Ni-MH batteries is caused by three main reasons:

• The chemical decomposition of the cathode
• The natural disaggregation of the anode
• Impurities of the anode

The chemical decomposition of the cathode has been reduced substantially by the use of a new hydrogen-absorbing superlattice alloy. As an additional benefit the superlattice alloy increases the electrical capacity of the battery and reduces the internal resistance, which allows higher discharge currents than conventional rechargeables. Also, the anode has been strengthened by the improvement of the electrolyte composition, which reduces the natural decomposition by increasing the oxygen over-voltage.

This gives eneloop charger batteries a number of advantages over traditional alkaline batteries, including up to four times more power when used in a digital camera, high performance even at low temperatures (down to 23 degrees F) during your winter vacation, and a vast cost savings in the long run. The eneloop charger advantages are even more glaring when compared to typical NiMH batteries: not only are they ready for use right out of the box, but they generally last longer than most NiMH batteries (continuous and frequent recharging can destroy other NiMH models) and save both time and money (traditional NiMH charging is slow when you're in a hurry, while rapid chargers are expensive). All told, you can recharge eneloop charger batteries up to 1,000 times without experiencing a "memory effect"--just charge the amount you need and you're set.
